Great Bend Expo Complex: Putting Central Kansas on the Map

So many times, the expo centers in towns throughout the country are not utilized like the they should be. However, there are not many months that come around that the Great Bend Expo Complex is not hosting some amazing event.

In addition to the SRCA Dragstrip and its plethora of activities throughout the year (mentioned in a previous blog), the expo grounds also hosts the Barton County Fair. Held every July for an entire week, pre-fair events include many 4-H events including judging in foods, arts, rabbit, and poultry. The second day includes more judging of 4-H and a concert. On one of the last days of the event, they hold an antique tractor pull, mutton bustin,’ sand volleyball, corn hole, and more music. This is definitely not an event you are going to want to miss.

If you are in to motorcross, you are going to be excited about the Supercross Shoutout! Hosted annually by professional motocross riders, Wil and Tommy Hahn, The racers, most ranging from 6 to 18 years of age, will be racing for all types of awards while professional riders fight for the $7500 purse.

The Great Bend Farm, Ranch, and Hemp Expo is held here every year in April and is the largest farm event in the United States dedicated to promoting agricultural technology. The 2022 show will be adding hemp components to their shows. Exhibitors include numerous cutting-edge displays for farm and ranch equipment, seed and chemicals, agricultural services, irrigation manufacturers, financial providers, commodity organizations, colleges, governmental services, home services, furniture and art galleries, boutiques, hats, boots, and much more. There truly will be something for everyone.

The Bike Brew Q is also an annual event here and we mentioned it briefly in our blog about Dry Lake Brewery. This cycling, craft brew expo, and BBQ food truck takes 100% of the proceeds and gives it to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This is an incredible event hosted by the guys from Dry Lake, where each event is independent of the others and guests can choose what part they want to take get involved in. Check out their website to find out how to participate or donate! http://www.bikebrewq.com/home

The Rosewood Rodeo (Rosewood Services blog on our site) hosts a rodeo every year

at the expo complex that includes horse-riding drill team, one of few such teams in the

United States for people with developmental disabilities. However, the rodeo is something

that needs to be seen! This amazing family-friendly event encourages people of all abilities

to do their very best in everything they do!

Last, but certainly not least, is the F&E Collector Auto Action that is held every year in

October at the expo complex. Classics, muscle cars, antiques, hot rods, motorcycles, and

automobilia and petroliana collectibles will all be found and auctioned here.

When visiting Great Bend, Kansas, we can not only guarantee a great time but also

an event that is sure to make you want to travel back to the Midwest again soon!
