Why Four Saints Brewing is the Best Craft Brewery in the World

A couple of weeks ago, our team had the pleasure to visit what we now consider the coolest brewery in the entire country. Four Saints Brewing is located in Downtown Asheboro, North Carolina and has a story of success that is almost too hard to believe. There is no disputing the fact that North Carolina is known for craft beer and breweries. But, establishing one in Asheboro proved to be a little more of a challenge.

Andrew and Joel became fast buddies when their wives introduced them. Once a month, the couples and two other friends would get together, grill, work on their homebrew, and converse about how someone should open a brewery in Asheboro. However, a dry county and other local alcohol laws prohibited that from happening. Gradually, the conversations shifted from someone should to they should as their home brewed beer got better and better. “I really thought we were on to something once we started experimenting with different flavors, Co-Owner Joel McCoskey said.

Eventually the desire got too strong and eventually Andrew and his wife Amy, and Joel and his wife, Kristen decided they needed to open the brewery. However, it was not as easy as it sounds but determination from all parties and the support of a community brought about the grand opening of Four Saints Brewing Company on May 6, 2015.

From the beginning, their mission has been very simple. They wanted to make great beer for great people and have done so for the last six years. Not only are they boosting the local economy as a small business but always have the amazing opportunity to donate to organizations and charities that are near and dear to their heart. One thing is for certain, when you enter the door at Four Saints, you will immediately feel like family.

One really cool decoration in the brewery is the Four Saints of brewers. They adorn the four corners of the brewery and were put in class because originally, there were four guys involved in the planning of the business. St. Luke is a patron saint of brewers because of his ability to mic various herbs together for medicines, just as they were for beer. His beer at the brewery is the Honey Ginger Pale Ale with spring availability. St. Wenceslaus is the patron saint of Czech brewers because he decreed death for hop exporters and thieves. His beer is a Bohemian Pilsner with summer availability. St. Augustine is the patron saint of beer and brewers because of his former life as a party animal. His beer is a Jalapeno Smoked Brown Ale with autumn availability. Finally, St. Nicholas is the patron said of beer due to the traditions of giving fermented drinks as gifts. His beer is a Winter Warmer Christmas Ale with winter availability.

They truly have a beer for everyone! These beer range from Salty and Sweet, Dark and Roasty, Hoppy and Bitter, Sour, Tart, and Funky, Crisp and Clean, and Fruity and Spicy.

We strongly encourage a visit to Four Saints. It was an absolute life-changer for us and a trip that we plan to make again in the very near future. If you are going, they are closed on Monday and open 4pm-9pm Tuesday-Thursday, 3pm-11pm on Friday, 12pm-11pm Saturday, and Sunday’s 1pm-7pm. They are located at 218 South Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, North Carolina 27203. If you need to reach out to them before you visit, give them a call at (336) 610-3722.
